What Can IV Therapy Treat?

IV therapy can be used to treat a broad variety of health conditions. Patients come to us at the KHWCT to treat conditions ranging from fatigue to intestinal mal-absorption, surgical wound healing, athletic performance enhancement, cold and flu, and more. Intravenous vitamin therapy is simple, fast, and produces minimal if any side effects. This makes it an ideal treatment option for many conditions. At KHWCT, we will first run a series of diagnostic tests to help evaluate the underlying cause of your fatigue. The following types of IV vitamin therapy have been shown to be helpful in treating fatigue:

  • Vitamin B-12, (intramuscularly)
  • High-Dose IV Vitamin C
  • Myer’s Cocktail

IV therapy is a general type of treatment that involves infusing vitamins, minerals, and amino acids directly into the body through an intravenous drip. The patient’s condition depends largely on what is included in the infusion. Common IV therapy treatments include:

  • High dose Vitamin C
  • IV MSM
  • Myers’ Cocktail
  • IV Glutathione
  • IV Magnesium Therapy

Fatigue

Fatigue is one of the most common health complaints of patients, often occurring along with depression and stress. Many patients complain about being exhausted after they come home from work, or they can’t seem to get going in the morning even after a good night’s sleep, they wake up feeling tired. There are many causes of fatigue, including bacterial and viral infections; such as the flu. Poor nutrition is also a factor: if you eat too many simple carbohydrates such as sugary sweets that are high in fructose corn syrup, you may have a quick rise in energy, but then a sudden crash. Vitamin deficiencies, particularly deficiency in B vitamins, can also cause fatigue. So can hormonal imbalances – particularly those found in PMS and adrenal insufficiency. Other underlying chronic disease states, such as inflammatory bowel disease, underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), and connective tissue disorders may also be responsible for your fatigue.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) affects millions of Americans.  When you have CFS, you feel like you are always tired, and there doesn’t seem to be an obvious medical cause. CFS is a diagnosis of exclusion, because other possibilities have been ruled out. An important breakthrough came when a significant percentage of CFS patients had evidence of infection with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV); the same virus that causes mononucleosis. However, many CFS patients have no detectable EBV in their system.

Athletic Performance Enhancement

Many athletes use IV therapy to enhance their performance, because vitamins and minerals are essential to an efficiently functioning metabolism.  IV therapy has a beneficial role in aiding the body. Common types of IV therapy include zinc, vitamin C, B-complex and magnesium.

Cold and Flu

A depressed immune system can cause an occasional cold or flu.  If you fall chronically sick and experience several colds a year IV therapy can be useful to boost your immune system. Some of the most common IV therapy includes vitamin C and Myers’ cocktail.

Intestinal Malabsorption

Intestinal malabsorption is a condition that occurs when the intestines are unable to properly absorb nutrients from food, which can cause nutritional deficiencies. Some of the most common causes of intestinal malabsorption are IBD (inflammatory bowel disease), Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and celiac disease.  Common IV nutrient therapy treatments used for intestinal malabsorption include:

  • IV amino acids
  • IV MSM
  • IV Glutathione
  • Myers’ cocktail

Surgical Wound Healing Postoperatively

Fast and proper healing is vital for patients whom have undergone cosmetic to bariatric surgery, and to achieve this, patients need a healthy immune system. IV therapy is a great way to administer proper level of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids necessary for patients’ postoperative healing.  Common IV therapy options for this include IV glutathione, Myers’ cocktail, and vitamin C.

Other Conditions

Along with the conditions listed above, IV therapy can be used to revitalize your health conditions organically and naturally.
